  • Latvians have a traditional pork-steak, karbonade.   (note: dash above a) 

  • They also have a cabbage soup, kapostu zupa. (note: dash above a in kapostu)

  • Since Latvian culture has close relations with Russian culture  (geographically, the countries are not far away from each other and Latvia has been conquered and influenced by Russia for quite a long period of time), Russian food, like Borsch is also popular.

  • Juice, tea, and especially coffee are common drinks. Latvians prefer their coffee with whipped cream (delicious)!

  • Whipped cream is also greatly used on desserts and pastries.
