Since Latvian culture has close relations with Russian culture (geographically, the countries are not far away from each other and Latvia has been conquered and influenced by Russia for quite a long period of time), Russian food, like Borsch is also popular.

Juice, tea, and especially coffee are common drinks. Latvians prefer their coffee with whipped cream (delicious)!

Whipped cream is also greatly used on desserts and pastries.
